The idea of a connected ecosystem of devices can feel complex and hard to communicate. Phones, TVs, watches, and appliances all talking to each other, all working together, all somehow relevant to your life.

The job was to make that feel simple enough to walk up to in a retail store and immediately understand.

Samsung's Connected Living MDE (multi-device experience) was a full physical retail buildout. A designed space inside Samsung Experience Stores where 6 to 10 devices lived together, connected through SmartThings, and guided shoppers from curiosity to purchase through an engaging four-stage journey.

Connected living is genuinely powerful. A Galaxy Watch that tracks your workout, a Neo QLED that coaches your form, a SmartThings routine that dims the lights when you start a yoga class, these things work together in ways that genuinely improve people's lives.

The problem is that none of that is obvious standing in a store.

The average shopper doesn't know what SmartThings is. They don't think about their devices as an ecosystem. They think about the phone in their pocket or the TV on their wall.

The brief was to bridge that gap. Build a physical space and a software experience that could meet shoppers where they were, not with spec sheets and feature lists, but with a journey built around their passions.

The space was designed around Gen Z passions and activities. Fitness, Cooking, Entertainment, Productivity, and Energy Saving rather than traditional room-by-room categorization. Less about where you live, more about how you live.

The "+" symbol is one of the most understood icons on the planet. It represents connection, part of a larger equation, positivity. It became the organizing symbol of the entire experience. From the physical canopy structure overhead to the graphic language on every screen.

Our client had predefined categories for SmartThings were presented as Fitness, Cooking, Entertainment, Productivity, and Energy Saving. Across the entire experience, the formula was simple,

The experience was designed as a physical funnel with a focus on 'right place, right time' for every visitor as they move toward and within the space. Each stage had a clear shopper mindset, a defined need, and a specific opportunity for the experience to deliver.

The "+" motif carried throughout the physical canopy structure, video walls flanking the space, and a touch screen kiosk at the center of the experience designed to engage shoppers through their journey.

The space is organized by passion rather than product category. Fitness, Cooking, Entertainment, and Energy Saving are each given their own device zones to interact with and the zoning is mixed to allow for more interchangeable, customized experiences.

Materials follow In-store design standards to ensure harmonious integration, but with an increased emphasis on visibly sustainable materials. Darker palette choices across the space offer contrasts that can draw focus to the screens where we want people to try the devices.

Before a shopper enters the space, the video walls have to earn their attention. The attractor loop runs on the exterior walls continuously with a vivid, looping animation built around the Connect+ visual language. People, passions, and devices composited together with the "+" motif, across a palette designed to communicate the richness and breadth of what connected living can be.

At the center of the experience sat the Connect+ Studio touch screen table kiosk running the core interactive software. This is where engagement deepened into interaction. Shoppers could build their own connected home by selecting by Passion, Room, or Product dragging devices into a central canvas, and watching as the system surfaced device pairings and what they could do together.

The interface was designed for both guided and unguided exploration where a Samsung associate could walk a shopper through a recommended journey, or a confident visitor could build their own stack independently.

By building the experience around real passions like fitness, cooking, and entertainment, we gave shoppers a framework for connected living that they can take with them. The QR code extends that education beyond the store floor, letting people explore their own bundle at their own pace, on their own terms.

The Samsung CX-MDE Connected Living experience was pitched, won, and deployed into Samsung Experience Stores with a full physical retail environment where software, hardware, and space design worked together to make connected living feel accessible and genuinely compelling.

The brief was to reduce complexity to a simple idea that anyone can approach. The answer was to start with what people already love and show them what Samsung can add to it.

RFP pitched and won. Designed and delivered the MDE Connect+ experience as a modular framework for Samsung Experience Stores.

Four-stage physical journey: Attract, Engage, Interact, Transact, from exterior video wall to in-store purchase.

Connect+ Studio with Passion, Room, and Product based navigation, designed for guided and unguided exploration.

QR based bridge leaves shoppers with a clearer sense of connected living and direct path to the devices that fit their life.
